What to do with excess chicks?

I will have I think 1 excess chick hatch, what to do with it? I dont know what to do

Sell the excess, or raise for butchering if possible.

First off, don't count your eggs before they hatch, as they say.
Also, your very likely to also get extra roosters. What do you plan on doing with them? An extra chick will make it more likely for you to have more hens to choose from.
If you have to get rid of that chick, or one or more roosters, butchering, selling, or creating an additional separate pen are your options.

I think your price will depend on what others will pay for it.

For silkies I charge $1.50 per chick.

I expect 5 or 6 to hatch, I will be giving 5 to friends as 5 is how many they want but the 6th chick idk but then again it may never hatch

I would wait to see if hatches.

Then check to see if all chicks are healthy. If one is obviously unhealthy, cull it.

Then, if you have 6 healthy chicks, ask if your friends would like all six.

If they say no, then try to sell it, or raise it yourself, or cull it. (I think culling a healthy chick is probably not the best answer. I am only mentioning it in case you get into a real bind, if you cannot raise it yourself and cannot find anyone else to raise it either.)
