I'm new to chickens. There is a small amount of fines in each bag of food. The chickens aren't eating it, but is there something I can do with it to feed it to them, or should they just be thrown away?

This is what we do too. Our flock thinks mash is even better than scratch. We save them in a bucket. Add some warm water to turn it into a mash. (like oatmeal). Chickens love it. Think it's a treat. No waste that way.
Thank you for your reply!! I was hoping that a person could do something to not waste them.We save them in a bucket. Add some warm water to turn it into a mash. (like oatmeal). Chickens love it. Think it's a treat. No waste that way.
We feed crumbles and there seems to be a lot of fine powder in each bag.Thank you for your reply!! I was hoping that a person could do something to not waste them.
This, exactly! It works very well. One side benefit: the chickens get some extra liquid in their diet. That can be critical in hot weather. It's also an easy way to get them electrolytes: just sprinkle the electrolyte powder over the fines and mix in the water. In extreme temps, hot or cold, electrolytes can help.We save them in a bucket. Add some warm water to turn it into a mash. (like oatmeal). Chickens love it. Think it's a treat. No waste that way.
