You might look around for a farm animal sanctuary in your area. Some animal shelters will take roosters, also. If he doesn't get adopted, at least you know he'll be put down humanely. Craigslist is a crapshoot, you could find him a good home, or he could end up stew (not necessarily bad, but you don't know how he'll be treated or killed) or snake food. People that get animals for food or bait, or even resale, are really good at saying all the right things that you want to hear, but it's all lies. There are also really good folks that could answer your ad, too. If you really want to be sure of how he'll be treated, don't let him out of your control. I suppose it's out of the question to take him?
