What to do with quail?

I don't think paypal will work to cover shipping. After they take their cut I am getting hosed on the actual shipping cost. I suppose we could tack on a couple %. I will take checks.

I better stop the egg request at this point, fill the orders, and see what everyone gets. Maybe if the hatch rate is good enough word will get out and I can make a buck or two

I will do what I did when Amy hatched some for me. I'll mark the pen # on the egg and you can get back to me as they develop.

I will PM everyone once I get the boxes.

Hey Chris,
I have the names and numbers for tons of Asians that live around here. I have alot of them that are friends in Mountain Lake, Butterfield, Walnut Grove, Jackson, Worthington, Redwood Falls, etc. They might go for the eggs, but I know they don't like white birds of any kind.

Not many other people I know that eat quail either up here. Your best luck might be at the MN Pheasant & Waterfowl Society swap in Lecenter this saturday. Maybe dog trainers would go for them....

For the hassle that goes into them, its just not worth it around here. They are a pain in the butt to raise, not very hardy as chicks, and are lil monsters. My brother stuck a whole load of blue scale and bobwhite eggs in my incubator too. He made a huge fuss about keeping them alive because they are worth soo much. Pfffttt... I came to find out the lil buggers are maybe $2-4 each full grown. They kill my peachicks that go for $25 each and go after my pigeon squabs too. My brother didn't want them back in his own coop, so slowly all those hatchlings are getting eliminated every time they kill another of my birds too.
Amy

I have never seen these quail attack anything because I keep them in wire pens (1 roo, 3-4 hens). They get nuts when I go near them but I haven't seen blood drawn.

Amy, you gave us a phone number for a lady wanting hatching eggs but she never got back to us. Like you said, no one wants white birds. You can hand out my number next time someone inquires. I need to do something other than feed the eggs to the chickens. (although that is better than letting them go bad in the fridge.) They have a blast trying to break through the tough shell.

ya might wanna watch feeding the eggs to your chickens....today you're laughing as they try to break the shell of a tiny quail egg, but tomorrow ya might end up more than a little angry when they figure out their own eggs are easier to break open and eat!

That is what I was thinking.
