My Orpington rooster has never tried to attack a person. He doesn't like other roosters in his space, but he has never bothered me or my husband. Orpington roosters are more docile by nature than most breeds.

Not every rooster is mean. Handle him alot. Put him under your arm like a football carry and walk around with him while keeping him calm. It will help keep him submissivive to you. In essence you become the big roo to him.
Oh, go on, just keep him. A good BO roo is a real treasure.
We love our big Buff Orpington roo.
He's quite a character. He's almost 2 years old and I don't have to worry about him if I turn my back on him, Roo's don't have to be mean to humans to be good flock protection. Festus is built like a tank and can take care of the girls and will not back down from any preditor.
