In a few weeks I will be getting 12 Cornish cross. My chicken yard consists of 1 4 x 8 coop that my 4 older hens, two 4 week old chicks and 1 rooster have occupied forever attached is an 8x8 confined run. We Attached a fenced in area about 20x25 and at the other end is a 10x10 coop occupied by six 18 week old hens just staring to lay 1 turkey and 1 rooster. Our option is combining the two flocks in the 10x10 coop and putting the Cornish cross in the 4x8 coop. Or vice versa is my husbands suggestion since the older flock lay eggs in the smaller coop. But I thought it would be easier to raise the Cornish x in it where they would be more contained. Or another option would be to put them in a coop we bought at tractor supply when we first got chickens til they out grow which probably wouldn't be very long and then put them with the other chickens and not displace the existing flocks.
Thanks
Connie

We will find out in the morning! I have a Wyandotte that is limping on her left foot so we cornered her in the smaller coop and shut the pop door. When we got finished looking at her foot which I didn't see any cuts or cores as in bumble foot but I will continue to watch I think maybe she stepped on a rock and bruised it. Anyway when we put her back in the coop we took her thru the door and didn't open the pop door back up. Tonight when I went to close them in they were all in the larger coop! They didn't seem to be fussin so we will see how they are in the morning. So I may have worried for naught.

Everything was good this morning. They all seemed in one piece when I opened the door
