Hi, I have 11 turkey chicks they are 2 days old and don't know how to eat on their own, they eat only when I put their food on my palms, but then if I place it in a container or small cup they just ignore it. what should I do for them to learn?
Can you dip their beaks in the food (what kind?) Sort of like when we show the chicks where the water is. Or maybe guide them over to the plate with the hand that's holding the food. Good luck
hello @Nandesuka - welcome to BYC
put the bowl of feed in front of them and keep poking your finger in it, as if your finger was the broody's beak, until they start poking their beaks in it. You have to show them what is food, as she would. Once a few of them have caught on, the others will copy them. Good luck.
Aloha! Put the food in something that makes noise. So when you tap your finger in it like Perris said they know that is where they eat. Then when you tap they know food is there. As they eat through your fingers, while tapping.
