We discovered our little Greta had passed this evening. She was was on her back. She was 6. Was this a old age? The dilemma is should we get our only remaining girl some friends. Waffle House is 8 years old. She is used to having 2 companions but as of this evening has none. Should we pamper her as an only bird or get her some friends? I’m sad at the loss of Greta and Babette before her and am now worried about or oldest, Wafflehouse. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm sorry for the loss of Greta. She lived a long time.

If I were in that situation, I'd consider adopting two rescue hens. The ex-battery hens are usually clean and checked out thoroughly before adoption. You wouldn't have to wait for chicks to grow up. Integration would probably be easier, too. Just a thought...

Thank you for your thoughts.
