This started about 2 months ago. It is winter here, so I don't have to worry that the heat is the culprit. I had a silkie that looked very sick. When I brought her in, both eyes were glued shut, she was very skinny, and she would not cough, but sniffle. I used warm water and a wash cloth to unglue her eyes. She still didn't open them. I noticed that under the eye there was like a pouch. I pushed on it and a white substance oozed out. I showed my son and when I pushed on the pouch, the substance flew out like it was under pressure. This chicken ended up dying. Now I have another one that all of sudden sits and won;t get up to eat. If I pick her up and put her back down, she will eat. So far her eyes are clear. Suggestions?
I was feeding the first Silkie grated carrots and apples. Is there some supplement I should be using? None of my banties or cochans got sick.
