I hatched some buff orp eggs and straight off I can tell that at least two of my ten are roos, just by attitude, and I know there will be more. I'm also getting some RIR packing peanuts with my chick order coming in May. Since neither of them are meat birds, I was wondering if anyone here could give me advice on the best diet for them in order to produce good-tasting (for roosters) and ample meat? I'm not looking for anything near meat chicken weights, just enough to justify the cost of electricity when I use my crock pot. Thanks for any advice!

I would say a continuous supply of a 20% or higher protein feed will get them to a good butchering weight. Most here seem to be of the opinion of butchering on or before 20 weeks.
