Hey newbie here. Just wondering what little things I could do throughout the day to help my chickens lay some more eggs, and thats' reasonable. Thanks for any responses! Any help is better than what I'm doing now!

High protien layer feed will help in egg production. I feed 22% layer feed in my feeder and toss a cup of 16% 13-way scratch in the run it a mix of grains corn peas sunflower seeds and oats. I have 5 hens and average 4 eggs a day.

I think our feed is okay, I was just talking about the inbetween stuff I could do…..

You can feed many things in between but to keep the birds laying well it needs to be over 16% protien. Look for a good type of scratch that is made up of mixed grains not just corn.

They are some many other things besides feed why or why they are not laying. Age, type, weather etc etc. You really have to look at it all.

I'm thinking now it's just because it's super cloudy/rainy and theres like not enough daylight……. I've thought grass might helped, but today I've checked and from what I saw because I have 3 hens constantly laying in the nesting box I think I might have as of right when I checked 20 minutes ago like 10. So I guess its just because its winter, daylight, and cloudiness.

I turn light on at 4am and off at 7:30am. Feed 20% (mixed from game bird starter and layer) feed and my layers lay almost everyday.
I agree about the light on it makes them lay better and seems to help with the garments too

I I mix 1 part chops and 1 part scratch--makes the yokes rich
