What to feed hens to make there eggs stronger

I sprinkle oyster shell lightly on top the chickens and waterfowl's food. Some mornings I mixed powered milk into their food, for extra calcium. You can also save your egg shells, from your girls, bake them, crunch them up and feed back to them. : )

Mrs. Fluffy, how much powdered milk per pound of feed do you use? I give mine buttermilk sometimes.

By all means offer egg shells, but make sure you crush them up well or it may encourage your hens to start eating their eggs.

I actually have no clue. In the mornings my chickens and waterfowl get a warm mash made from their crumbles/pellets I soak them in hot water, add a couple sprinkles of powdered milk, cod liver oil, cinnamon, nutmeg..stir it up and serve. I just eye ball all the amounts.

When ever we make vinegar cheese, or have extra milk from our cows (we have three Jerseys), either the dogs or the birds get it. I love to make a nice, warm mash, using the whey from the vinegar cheese.
