I'm new here... as I stated in my introduction thread, my kids found two injured chickens in different stages of healing and we have not been successful in locating their owner, so we are going to keep them and love them!

Any suggestions on what to feed them that may help speed up their healing and return to laying eggs?

yes... like down to the meat/muscle... under their wings. The one is pretty well healed up, but the one is fresh. I got some blue Hen Healer ointment. She does not seem to be hurting at all.

All they really need are some ointment or peroxide and rest . If you want you can feed the hens layer feed,no need for special feeds.I get birds like this (Very rarely),an dmost time I just put peroxide on the sore and sit them in a cage.If the gashes are small I usually just let them go about their business as long as it is healing on its own and if their acting normal.Chickens heal just fine on their own, their bodies are practically their medication for a lot of diseases and wounds such as gashes.

and they are both acting completely fine... they seem to like each other and they are eating, drinking, and pooping.

I read a recipe for electrolytes somewhere on this site but I can't remember the mixture. Most places that sell animal supplies sell Sav-a-Chick which is a good source. I think I've even seen it in Walmart.
Neosporin is something that I use on injured birds and most people have it in their medicine cabinet. It helps prevent infection.
It's great that you rescued them! :)

Scrambled egg makes a great treat for an injured bird and it has everything their bodies need.
