What to feed sickly chicks with coccidiosis?

I am treating the whole flock with Corid. We're on day 2.

I have a sickly pullet who does seem like she'll pull through, but I am worried about her food intake. She hasn't eaten in over 24 hours. I didn't want to give her yogurt because of the probiotics issue (strengthening the cocci?), and I was thinking raw egg might be the easiest with a syringe.

Any tips?

Thanks.

Isolate late her, provide additionally heat but be careful not to over do it. Feed her a chick starter. Keep her in good water (with Corid). She will take several days to start packing weight back on. I am not an advocate of probiotics because my free-range birds do not have need but I can see no reason why not to use them in your situation.

I agree, she should start to perk up any time now and start eating again on her own. You can give her the Corid water with a dropper or needless syringe several times a day if you don't think she's drinking much. Sometimes when they are feeling really crummy with cocci they don't drink enough on their own at first. Otherwise just give her her regular feed or starter, you could try some hard boiled egg to temp her. You just don't want to do any vitamin supplements at this point because the whole point of Corid is to starve the cocci protozoa of vitamin B.

Thank you for responding, everyone. I lost five chicks and three pullets, but the other 37 young ones made it, including this chick I was talking about. What a stressful and sad event!

The weakest survivors started acting normal in about two and a half days. I have four obviously stunted chicks. I have been giving them poultry nutri-drench in their water. I will watch their growth. What is the likelihood of their catching up?
