What to feed to get Orange yolk

I already ran this experiment lol. A little out of order but you can see the progression from yellow to deep orange. Red pepper added to regular feed will do it.

Did the pepper change the egg taste?

I always sprinkle paprika or chili powder on our veggie and meat scraps that we feed our chickens and let them range (we can do it year round because we live in hawaii) and our yolks are always orange. I think any pepper (whole, or dried and powdered) will cause an orange yolk.

No not at all. No effect on flavor. I don't do it all the time but there are times where the really orange yolks come in handy. Like if you want a REALLY yellow yellow cake lol.

I'm interested...did your eggs have any fish taste? By the by the oats did work.

I feed my chickens fish all the time , my husband is a commercial fisherman so they get fish at least once a week. No fish taste in thier eggs at all.
I've also feed them venison they love it!

Occasionally my girls get pork roast. They adore it. I have seen them eat a lizard before though. I felt sorry for the lizard. It happened fast.. Venison? Now the hens would have to fight me for that.lol

My girls eat whole frogs all the time. And salimandors.
