what to feed?

we have two 7 week old chicks and they have been fed solely on chick crumbs. I was just wondering if they are able to eat anything else at this age? Or is it better to stick with the crumbs?

Their primary diet should be prepared poultry diet - and it is not at all problematic to have that be their entire diet. *IF* you wish to provide other foods (scratch, kitchen scraps, etc) you want to keep it to no more than 10% of their total intake so as not to have a negative impact on their overall nutrition. ETA - you will want/need to assure they have access to grit as poultry feed is water soluble and does not need grinding in the gizzard, but other foods require it for proper digestion. They can eat anything you'd feed adult birds - from vegetables, fruit, meat, etc.

Thanks for that. Think i'll stick to the chick crumbs for now until i get more used to taking care of them
