What to get the chickens for Christmas???

How about a nice pumpkin or zucchini? Assuming they have had them before, my chickens love both and if I put a whole one in the run they will gradually eat it all up.

Or a container of mealworms?

The only gifts I can think of that a chicken would like are all food.

I have the perfect plan, it solves 2 problems at once:
(1) What to give the chickens for Christmas
(2) What to do with that fruit cake that someone always gives you and you don't dare try to eat.

Give the fruit cake to the chickens!

I plan on making a tree for mine. I want to decorate it with grapes, popcorn, little tomatoes and pinecones rolled in peanut butter and bird seed. Everone I tell that too thinks I've lost my mind.

I'll have my grandsons for a couple of days and want to make a project out of for us to do togeather. They just love my chickens.

That was a nice poem Deb.

A couple of Xmas' ago when Fear Factor was big, I bought DS and myself some dried flavoured Mealworms to put in our stockings...DS was having none of it and dared me to eat em so I did...Nacho was very good. LOL
But I gave Mike's and the rest of the other box to Slifer and Obelisk...Obelisk wasn't keen on em, but Slifer really really like them and we ate the whole box.

This Xmas Obelisk and Penny are getting a bag of millet each and definitely some mealies and maybe some crickets. And maybe a bird bell with nice delicious sunflower seeds.
Suet is also good especially if it's cold.

Thanks everyone, for your kind words on the poem....sometimes...my brain just leaks out words! LOL
Helen, yes...I am in a better frame of mind. I have taken a new theory.....

Let go...let GOD.

I can't do it alone!
Hmmmmmm.....nice red apples on a Christmas tree....planted in the middle of thier yard...maybe unsalted popcorn for garland....and cherry tomatoes.....wonder how many I will need for 65 chickens?? Ohhhh....I can see the look on everyones faces...yup, I will be commited for sure!!They already call me....the crazy chicken lady...and thats FAMILY talkin! LOL

"I'm called the crazy chicken lady by family too. They think it's hilarious for me a city girl to raise chickens, and they call me crazy. HA"

Me too Laura! My Mother told me over thanksgiving that she didn't even realize that people had chickens for pets! My neighbor says "she even talks to those chickens, and they all have names"!! Too funny!

As for christmas, maybe a bowl of cooked, plain macaroni elbows and some raisins and a fat bunch of collards on a bungee cord, they love all of those!! Darlene
