Every single time I get chickens I AGONIZE over the breed I should pick. I make all these lists and name them ahead of time and change my mind over and over and over and over....So ima ask for some help Which kind should I get? I know for a fact I'm getting Buff Orpingtons. I like chickens that are full and fluffy I think I may want cochins. I will be ordering from a hatchery.

Go with Cochins they are real friendly. Get all colors. Have fun.

I got a variety from MPC (Check my sig line). The most personable ones are the Barred Rock, the Australorp and the Speckled Sussex. I;ve hear some say that Barred Rocks are mean, but I think it depends on the line they come from. The ones from MPC (through Meyer hatchery) are sweet, at least in my experience. The Australorp and the Speckled Sussex are very smart and inquisitive. Hope that helps!

If you're looking for full and fluffy, the speckled sussex from MPC that I have are very round birds! And mine are quite curious, always the first to come running when I go out the back door to see what treats I might be bringing them and always the first to dig in to anything new I offer. I've heard good things about the temperaments of brahmas too, though I haven't tried them. My EE are also all very personable chickens, always talking to me and checking out what we're doing.
