What to look for in a chick?

pasty butt; cold, listless chicks goopy down on faces or backsides.

Although, I have purchased really active chicks with slight pasty butt, taken them home and treated them with no permanent issues. Wash thier hieneys really well, apply a touch of vaseline, keep them really warm and watch them closely. I've gotten some of my best chicks that way. (If you point them out to the employee at the feed store, you may get discounts or even free chicks since they'll die anyway)
