What to peacocks think about chickens?

We bought Darla in March to replace Farina when he went missing. We were told by the breeder that Darla was hatched in April 2012. I am pretty sure she is a she by the way that the two interact. Buckwheat is supper protective of her and has become mildly aggressive towards us. He was never that way when he was penned with Farina. She has never called, she only makes clucking noises. I hope these photos are clear enough. The sun is not right just now.

Well, she does look much more like a she here!
But I really have no experience with spaldings.
The experts will certainly weigh in, I'm sure...

If I'm following this correctly, you currently have another male peacock in the Aviary, and your wondering why Farina doesn't want to go in and be a third wheel? Where as, there are some very attractive
hens nearby who are un- chaperoned by any dominant male, and your wondering why Farina wants to be lord of of the manor- there?

My male peacock is currently the only male bird on the property, and he is a perfect gentleman to every one. He stays in the hen house with the chickens, some nights (but most of the winter) and roosts out in the trees, other nights. He has his peahen wives, but treats the chicken hens as part of his harem- being protective and yes, displaying for them as well. Its a great relationship , having a Peacock be the "muscle" around the chickens. One time when a hawk grabbed one of my chicken hens, Blue screamed for 2 days, trying to call her back home- it was the saddest thing.
So, I can't speak for all peacocks, or all situations, but I've always had chickens and Peafowl together -and it can be a beautiful thing!

Stancock displays for my chickens. He herds the pullets bc they are so confused by him but the hens ignore him completely. That silly peacock perches on the coop run waiting for me to let the hens out in the am and if I am sleeping in he will get on the grill next to my bedroom window and holler for me. Stan will even run off the cow dog if she attempts to harrass the chickens. It is a good relationship for us.
