What to raise in Collin County Texas?

Hello,
I'm a newbie to raising chicks and was wondering what might be the best breed to raise here in N. TX. I would like to have 6 feather babies and would love to have fresh eggs. So if there are any pointers that anyone could give that would be great! Also where would be the best place to purchase some chicks? I've called around to the Tractor Supply, and they are already out.

Try My Pet Chicken online.... a little pricey but you can order pullets.

May want to get a hardy breed seeing as it get's cold in N. Texas in the winter and very warm in the summer.

Leghorns, Buff Orps, red and black sex links... all good layers.

Thank you for the advice! I don't mind having to pay for a great pullet, they will be well loved here. If you have anymore tips it would be greatly appreciated.
