What to use to catch a COON in a live trap?

I caught this little sucker of regular sardines. I think the trick was i ate one first

Trying both Sardines by themselves in one trap, and a partially full catfood can in another trap tonite. Both traps are on one side of my yard away from the chickens. .22 CB Longs ready for the hopeful outcome

if a coon is comeing around, he can be caught on about anything, from marsh mellows to table sraps, he's pretty curious.

i've got some old oatmeal cookies that i'm useing presently, and have caught coon, possum, and greyfox w/ them.

Most of the suggestions have been good. Coons eat most anything, much like bears.

If you should catch some, be sure to humanely kill them. DO NOT relocate them. All you accomplish by relocating is to give someone else your problems. Also, since rabies is a big problem in the coon population, you might be spreading infected animals to other locations that are not yet infected. Good luck!

I'll add to that, the fact that the little blighters are smart and learn very quickly, so once it is trapped and relocated it will not only become someone else's problem but now the danged thing knows to avoid traps!!

I used the can of cat food partially emptied for my cat to only catch my cat. The coons went over and rolled over the other trap and took my can of cat food. LOLOL Smart coons dumb cat...

I used a spoonful of peanut butter rolled in sunflower seeds and raisins. They were stealing my suet feeders and that was basically what was in them. Glad we got them before the chicks are big enough to go outdoors to the coop.
