I didn't know if this should be in the emergency and disease area but felt it wasn't so bad or worrisome to put it there. So forgive me either way. Anyway, I have hens that have bare backs and are getting sunburned. I know why they have bare backs and I have saddles on some of them but there just isn't enough to go around and would take way to long before they got here. SO my question is what can I put on them to help stop the sunburn?

Some will have to wait till they molt which I don't have a clue when that would happen but the problem of the bare backs is taken care of. Now, we've just got to wait till then. Thinking about getting more or making more saddles but would still like to know what I can use.

I haven't had this problem but I saw some people who put little sweaters on them. I don't know if this works and it's probably a lot like saddles ? Sorry I can't be of much help I am brand new to chickens

There was a post on using Duct tape for protection. I don't know where it is though they did recommend a specific type. Google Duct tape chickens aprons and you may find it.
