My rooster was taken around 2 in the afternoon. I was home along with my dogs. None of them gave any warning. Any idea what preditors could have done this. My rooster was tough he showed my dog who was boss when he got to close to his girls.

could have been a fox ( we see them here in broad daylight) or hawk. Did you find a pile of feathers or parts? If there is nothing - maybe he wandered off or was chicken napped by a two-legged predator - it does happen, especially by rooster hating neighbors.

There was a few feathers where I think the incident took place. My dogs would have let me know if anything was around. I'm thinking a hawk too. Poor rooster he did his job and protected his hens. Now to get a new Rooster:(

It could have been a person it did happen close to the road, we live in the country and don't have close neighbors. Who the heck would take a rooster ?

Well, if your dogs didn't bark, then it was probably a hawk. But my second guess is a fox. I'm very sorry for your loss :(.

I just got a new rooster and a couple of chicks. I kept them in a large dog crate in the coop for three days. I let my rooster into the coop last night. However he wants nothing todo with the hens, and wants back in the dog crate with the chicks. ( wont go outside with my free rangers). Do I just need to give them time or is he attached to the chicks?
