What treat did your chickies get today?

Some cold organic broccoli. Then one found a tiny lizard in the grass and the chase was on!

Gave some crumbled egg yoke to my 3 chicks. They become funny, tiny sharks whenever they get this treat, running around like crazy looking for bits, chasing each other around when someone finds a larger bit, pecking at my hands trying to find more, etc.

I already re-strung my misting system in my run for them. I set the timer to let it run during the hottest part of the day.

Good idea This is my first time having chickens so I think we will end up putting a mini misting system by their coop.

Leftover cooked chicken, peeled carrots (and the peels) and a handful of BOSS to convince them back into their run before nightfall.

A basket of greens. They love greens. I buy them in the produce section at kroger, they make them down two days before they throw them out. Such a deal.

Mustard greens. I attach a bundle to the outside of their coop and it's gone by bedtime.

Wet Layer pellets mushed with dandelions, scrambled egg, and apple. It looked gross but they loved it!

We gave them red wigglers for the first time last night! They were first very hesitant, but one silver laced (Laci) took the first bite. Well, she didn't bite it but gulped it down! It was so funny. One RIR (Ginger) would have nothing to do with the worms.

I have been reading that some of you give eggs to your chickens. Is the advice not to feed eggs - will make them cannibals - true? This came from a guy whose knowledge comes from his 4H days.

If they can have eggs, I will be giving them some. I have been giving the shells, etc, to the worms!
