What turtle is this?

this turtle has been hanging around my chicken coop, which is near the water. She is probably looking for a spot to lay her eggs. I want to make sure this turtle and her eggs wont be any threat to my new born chicks. But, I don't know what type of turtle it is. Any suggestions of what she is? I know this is a chicken website, but I was just wondering if anyone has any idea....

I don't know, but a turtle shouldn't hurt anything Just pick him up and put him somewhere else away from the chickens if your worried it's a threat

It doesn't look like a snapping turtle, so I wouldn't worry about it. I live near the river and good sized turtles pass through my yard often. The worst that's ever happened was the chickens all stood around the turtle making a ruckus.
