What type/gender am I?

We got this chick thinking it would be turn out to be a rooster. The person we bought it from said she thought the dad was a RIR and mom was a white Delaware. We are thinking he is about 7 wks old. We are questioning the gender mostly because his crest is so pale. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

What Chris said about the sex-linking. If the person you bought it from was correct about the parents, then you probably do have a little cockerel on your hands.

And from the looks of it, I think your chick is more like 4 weeks max. My chicks are 7 weeks old and they have no baby fuzz -- all thier grown up feathers are in with only litte tufts on the very ends.

Your chicke is a young rooster.
Do you have him on Medicated feed?
He looks sick might be coccidiosis, the pail comb and wattles, ruffled feathers are all signs that he isn't in good health.

I agree with the gender and health recommendations. Sulmet works ok for coccidosis too.
