What type of bedding do you use?

I just switched to straw for the winter the other day. I got a very good deal I couldn't pass up on 50 bales of straw and I'm glad I did it. I think the straw will be warmer and the chickens seem far more content and seem to like scratching around in it

We just started raising ducks and guinea fowl this year and we are currently using straw. But earlier in the year we used pine flake, dried grass clippings, hay, and straw. (Whatever was cheapest/free )

Though next year I'm thinking about doing sand and/or peatmoss.
I know it wouldn't be good for winter, but we get some really hot streaks during the summer. (plus I hear it's easier to clean up and doesn't mold like pine flakes do when it gets constantly wet. )

Does anyone have any experience with either? If so what are the pros/cons of either?

I have never used ether, but I use peat moss for my garden and it is very dusty when dry. Just something you might want to consider.
