No, not ever.

They have free choice access to store bought grit, shredded paper, non shredded paper, pine shavings, cardboard, tree trimmings, large quantities of fallen leaves, grass clippings, and most anything else biodegradable.

Their outdoor run is my compost pit, 8 - 24 inches deep, 14'x14'.

If they don't eat it, mother nature will.

PDZ
Also found in: Wikipedia.
Acronym Definition
PDZ Perfect Dark Zero (video game)
PDZ Permanent Danger Zone (Mayon volcano; Philippines)
PDZ Primary Decidual Zone
PDZ Psd-95 (Post Synaptic Density Protein), DlgA (Drosophila Disc Large Tumor Suppressor) and ZO1 (Zonula Occludens-1 Protein)
None of these seem very helpful either. The PDZ website does mention a main ingredient callled zeolite which would account for the 'Z'.

Pine shavings on the concrete floor with wood pellets under the shavings in the area where water can come in from a driving rain and Sweet PDZ on the poop board. The pellets work great to soak up rain and keep the shaving dry. After the rain I push aside the shavings and shovel out the pellets that are wet (now disolved and a wet powder to the compost bin) and replace with dry pellets and push shaving back over the dry pellets.
We are working on our new coop which has a floor painted with Blackjack 57 and covered with vinyl flooring. This coop will be off the ground on cinder blocks. I will use wood shavings in it, too.
Love the smell of the shavings and the wood pellets.
