What type of bird? A danger to my flock?

A few times this week I’ve seen 2-5 brown coloured birds (size of a hawk) fly over my pen and they seemed quite interested in my chickens.

The were calling out deep throaty calls. It almost sounded like a bird tongue roll.

Should I be concerned?

There would be no way to know what you were seeing unless you had a pic of it. You might do a google search for common raptors in your state, and see what turns up. I might think crow or raven but they would be black.

Over my yard and they were circling my chickens.
