Well me and a friend cleaned out this 40x40ft barn. We want to do some kind of meat bird ( chickens-turkeys- Ect). What kind of poultry do you make the most profit? We want then to be ready before winter, and there has to be a demand for them.

Any thoughts?

And how many could we do in a 40x40 area?

I think you're too late to do turkeys for Thanksgiving this year, so I would go with chickens. It depends on where you live, but there seems to be a decent demand for fresh chicken. I imagine you could do a few hundred in a barn that size.

I'd do Cornish X's- they have the most meat and are done the fastest. Turkeys are pretty expensive to get started on. I can't really advise you on the amount of birds because I do mine in tractors.

The cornish x it is!

Ok how many can I do in a 40x40 area? How much feed would I need for that amount? What age would be most profitable to butcher at? Should I dobthe butchering myself or a pocesser? Do you need a permit to sell chicken meat in ny? The birds are in pa I will be selling in ny/pa
