Back in March we got our first ever chickens. 4 straight run barred rocks, and 6 assorted egg layers. So far we have identified all chickens as barred rocks, red sex links, australorps, and pretty sure a leghorn. But then this is this chicken who I just can't identify! What do you think?

Possibly a California White, which is a Leghorn type hybrid, if I remember correctly.

I would guess the same.

Did you get from a hatchery or a farm store? They've sold LOTS of amberlinks that look like that; some of mine are ALMOST pure white with a couple hint of colored feathers peeking through like yours above, some of them are white with an amber-red-brown hint on some of the ends of their feathers...

We got them from Orschelns. I looked at the links for the California Whites and would almost say that would be what she is but then I noticed California Whites look to have red earlobes and this one definitely has white earlobes! I had at one point thought tetra tint but was unsure as many people say they are specifically for Tractor Supply. I guess her true identity may never be known! They just loooove keeping me in suspense!

I think California Whites do have white earlobes (at least often), and if she does have them, it's likely she's a California White, or another leghorn mix.

Normally white egg layers have white earlobes.
