Buff Orpingtons are great for beginners I am in 4H and I have great luck with Buff Orpingtons they are very docile too!

I'd get buff hens if I had the opportunity to get some orpingtonorpington. I had to give my rooster away because he kept giving the hens bald heads and he was aggressive.
