I've seen them everywhere, & don't know what breed they are, but they have the green tail, green front & orange/red head & neck...it's the quintisential/ubiquitous Roo pic on just 'bout anything to do with chickens...I'm stumped! (ps...I see someone has a very LARGE one as an avatar!)

I just saw that G. gallus has the same coloration as the breed...perhaps they're showin' the ancestor of the chicken? Are there domestic breeds that have the same colorization as the wild Red Guinea fowl? Like the one in yer avatar...

Mr. Fancy Pants (the roo in our avatar) is an American Game. This is a very old breed in the US and pretty rare. The hens are great mothers and Fancy made an excellent rooster.

Wow, the American Game breed is the closest color cooridination as the Red Jungle Fowl...

Several breeds come in the brown red/ wheaten color- but it's usually just the roosters. Welsummers, brown leghorns, wheaten ameraucanas, wheaten marans.....

Wow, many different breeds with that beautiful coloration! Thanks! & Thanks for the beautiful pic of a Wellsummer!
