My Golden Retriever didn't need trained to not chase the chickens. The least she does is bark at them when they get too close to her food bowl. What about American Pitbull Terriers or American Staffordshire Terriers? Both are high energy, medium sized dogs. They are misunderstood, but sweet dogs. Labradors wpuld work good, too. Another option I highly recommend is to adopt from a local shelter. You could ask which one is the least likely to get adopted (usually the old or disabled) and adopt that one?

I think we will most likely go to a shelter. We decided on a German shepherd puppy!

We're going to get a very young one so I can raise him around the animals so he learns that they are friends.

We're going to try and find one in a shelter yes. We live right by a big city so it shouldn't be too hard. And yes I will post a picture if I get one but it might be a wile we're going on a vacation and I don't want to get him and just up and leave a few weeks later. My mom told me to find names so that's a good sign!
