What Type of Eggs to Hatch?

If I had to choose a breed to hatch, something like Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds. You won't be keeping the chicks past hatching, right?

or go to the california page and post on there that your looking for some. I'm sure there is someone that's close to you that would have mutt eggs for near to nothing especially since they're for school kiddos

You've cleared this iwth the kids' parents, yes? (It would seem to be a very important first step). Why not ask THEM (both kids and parents) what sort of chickens they might like?

As far as sources, have you tried asking at the feedstore, they are likely to know a variety of people with breeding flocks, and you could put up a big bright note on their bulletin board "FERTILE EGGS WANTED TO HATCH FOR KIDS"
