What type of feed is this? Grower or layer?

We bought it in a transparent plastic bag from the pet shop. They just said that it was chicken food and that they didn't know which.
I wouldn't have purchased it. You don't know anything about it's ingredients, mill date or the nutritional analysis.
I would toss it and go to a farm store and purchase a fresh bag of what you need.

It's the only thing that sells here. I live in a small place. I've searched everywhere but nothing else.

Bahrain- Middle East,
Do you know other people who have chickens in your area? Friends, relatives... online group... If there's no way to find out from the bag or the seller, try asking other people what they feed their chickens and where they get it from, and they may know more.

Even though we have users from all over the world, this forum is still primarily used by people in the US. It's easy to assume that everybody who posts can just up and go to Tractor Supply and find top-of-the-line animal feed with a detailed label and a nutritional breakdown. This is the gold standard for sure, but it's not as commonplace in other parts of the world as it is here. Often, people just gotta make do with what they have. This is why it's especially important to put your location in your profile, so that it's visible to everyone commenting, and they can take that into account when answering your question. The correct answer for one location may be completely irrelevant in another. @Hensii go to your profile, click on "About" and add your location, so people know how to answer your questions.

There is an egg shop nearby that raises hens, I'll ask them. Good idea.
