What type of feeder/water do you use in your coop?

How do you feed/Water your chickens. Changed out my girls to a large ceramic bowl for water as they don't tend to get as much debris in it. Still using the small plastic feeder for there dry food, wondering if i need to upgrade.

I would upgrade. Getting the rim of the waterer at the height of the birds' backs will keep the debris out, for the most part. A small plastic bucket works for that.

The fins keep the birds from billing their food out. It twists apart in 2 pieces for very easy cleaning.

I also make some of my feeders out of PVC pipe.

I've been using the Harris Farms 1 gallon plastic waterer for my 6 birds. I hang it from the roof rafter on a chain so it hangs at about the height of the chickens' backs.I have not had any problems with this setup...so far...

I've used the plaiin old TSC white plastic ones with red bowl for several years. Made the mistake of investing in galvanized; should not have wasted my money. The feeder gets condensation in it, which of course clumps the food, making it subject to mold, etc., and the waterer is a pain to refil, especially after it gets even the smallest dent, not to mention it will eventually rust. Plastic ones are simple to clean, especially with an extra, so you can just drop one in a bucket of water for a little while, with a bit of bleach.

You can have a system that auto refils or auto waters if you want, or a treadle feeder that keeps other critters out, etc. For me, I see no need.

I use metal tube feeders (Little Giant or Harris Farms) that I hang. They work much better hanging than sitting on a block or bucket.

I use three gallon plastic waterers (Harris Farms from TSC) for birds that I'm using cider vinegar with (first eight weeks). For all other birds I use five gallon double wall founts (Little Giant). I hang both of these as well.

Both feeders and waterers are hung about the level of the bird's backs so that they can get what they need, but makes it harder for them to waste the feed while keeping everything cleaner.

I have a small hanging feeder and a small basic waterer it's elevated this reduces the mess that gets in it.
