What type of goat breed should I get for 4-h?

Thanks! And I know about them being pack animals but I do have one question about that; its kinda silly but for them to be happy do they all have to be the same breed? My dad wants me to get three; a Nubian a Nigerian and an alpine so I know which I like best for a future herd. Is this a good idea? Or should I just pick one breed and get three of whichever I choose?

Also; I am looking for a calm breed that is easy to handle. My dad doesn't want a noisy breed but if we did get a noisy breed he wouldn't make me get rid of it or anything. :) Also just a nice cute goat that will make a great pet! :D

I have seen more then one breed together, but some may not get along in ways of not allowing another to eat. There was a goat at fair that was so skinny, because he never is allowed to eat. Some of this behavior would happen even if they are the same breed, but when there is a size and strength difference it could become a hassle.
Personally, I would go with nigerian if you want small and loving, or alpine if you want medium and aware, or Oberhaslis if you want medium and mellow. You are going to have fun.

Get young babies and if you can, get bottle babies. If they are a little older and were fed on a bottle it will have the same effect. This makes them a little more connected to humans.

Our goats have not had milk in a bottle for a year and we choose to give them bottles of water, just because they love it and so do we. Everyone at fair were amazed that they still will take a bottle and that they will drink water out of their buckets and from bottles.

Whatever you choose, do your homework. It will be worth it in the end. Best wishes!
