what type of grass to plant?

We are almost done with our turkey coop and run and planned to plant grass in the run. Then I just read somewhere NOT rescue but it gave no reason. Planned on mostly Rye- but it has some rescue in it. Now not sure what to do. Looking all over I haven't seen anything else about it so it may have just been one person's opinion.

Fescue can effect pregnant horses, but that is like if it is the only food source and lots of it causing late term miscarriages. Its suppose to be great to feed my pet leopard tortoise, with other grass and hays. Have no clue about it being bad for birds?
