What type of Roost do you use

The young ones may take time to get used to it. I use just a 2x4.... Nothing fancy but at night all are lined up. I find even though their roost is 4', they squeeze, all 4 of them, into about 2 feet of space

2x4's laid flat. They are 3 ft above the ground, spaced 1 1/2ft a part and 8 ft wide(width of coop)
I've got a ladder coming in from the main run pop door that meets with them on one side and one that comes up between 2 of the 2x4's. Most of them jump from the pop door onto the roosts

Tree branches of all shapes and sizes staggered at varying heights. They seem to like that the best, and each bird definitely has its own favorite "parking spot." When the roosts get old or worn down, I toss them on to the burn pile and visit the woods for some new ones. Plus, it helps to wear down their toenails.

I used a ladder type system made of 2x4. The top one is the full length of the coop (8 feet). All 10 chickens stay on the top roost but use the other levels to get up there. If I am late to let them out, I catch them hanging out on the lower roosts sometimes, and when they were younger they would pair up on the lower roosts to hang out.

I do plan on adding additional "top roosts" eventually.

I am currentlu using the flat ladder type and only about 12 chickens use it the other 25 just huddle in a coner of the pen or roost in the nesting boxes

My chickens, also, huddled. They are the same age as yours. Now, they all use the roosts. Some started using them earlier than others. I use 2 x 4 s with the wide side up. My roosts are 4 foot from the floor, and I have a droppings board that is 3 ft from the floor. I have no stair steps for them, and they have no problem roosting. (I did have a runway set up for them for a couple weeks, but have now taken it down.)​

Like many of the others who have responded, we have two 2x4's, 4" side flat, that the chicks use to roost. The lowest is 3' high, the second 12" above and in from the lowest. Underneath the lowest is a poop or droppings board. Makes it much easier to keep the mess down in the coop! My first chicks started roosting at about 7-8 weeks. The second batch started at 6 weeks (a case of monkey-see-monkey-do!) They all use the highest roost, altho the 3 older ones keep to one side and the 7 younger ones use the other side, with several feet in between them. The birds have no problem flying up to the roosts, and will use the lower roost as a step down when getting off the roost. I recently read tho where the jarring from landing when flying off the roost may be harmful to the chickens legs, especially the larger breeds (we have one 6 week old Jersey Giant) So we recently added a ramp from the lowest ramp to the floor. I figure they will use it as needed, but have not seen anyone use it other than to peek out the side window!

We use tree limbs that are about 3 or 4 inches in diamater. We leave the bark on and any small branches that stick out. The chickens and guineas seem to like them as these are natural roosts.

Tree branches are cheap to get and replace makes the best perches. They get dirty you just replace them no cleaning needed.
