what type of sand

I found a bag of monterey fine beach sand (for mixing with cement iI think). Can i put this in the run for the hens to use for dust baths? what about in chick run? It is very fine grain.

just made the mistake myself of buying a bag of sand for concrete usage - it contained silica which can be harmful to respiratory systems (both yours and the birds). I imagine silica is not kind to the digestive tract either. Go with play sand and mix in loam or peat. if in the run, maybe add some grit to it too for the birds.
