What type of snake is this?

Here’s how they look when they get a little older...

I don't mind snakes if they are not poisonous and don't bother my animals. I always relocate far away.

Research on introduced Pythons in the Everglades proves that they can and do return to the place that they were trapped from at least 120 miles distance. If you ask me that is quite a feat for an animal without any feet, wings, or legs to travel 120 miles.

I know it was not venemous because there are only 6 types of venomous snakes in nc and only 3 in the mountains where I am located. Also, it had the round face and large eyes with round puples. I really think it was a juvenile eastern rat snake (also known as black rat snake) because it had the same gray back pattern and brownish black spots. Also eastern rst snakes are the most common in this area. I have seen many since I moved here.

I'm glad you didn't jump to conclusions and kill it. :wee
If it gets big enough to go after chicks then it's fair game. But for now it's eating pests and keeping vermin away from your chickens.
