What type of straw?

What is the best type of straw for bantam chickens or does is even matter? They will have a 2x4 coop and about 3x4 run that will have straw.

I don't have bantam's but I use pet straw from a local farm.

I don't think it really matters, though some people have had problems with them eating it and causing impacted crop.

I use pine shavings in my coop, but I've read great things about hemp. Wish I could get it easily in my area of the world.

I prefer shavings to straw myself, because they seem to last longer and have less tendency to pack and mat.

However, if I had access to a lot of straw cheap I'd use that cheap straw happily -- as long as it was perfectly dry and had no signs of mold on it.
