what u get when u cross a silver an golden sebright?

Not really sure.I used to have both and at one long point all of the brids free ranged.All of the egg's I hatched seemed to be true to color.I did hatch 2 beautiful frizzle chick's which my silver had taken up with a frizzle hen.The feathering was black on white.I got 3 golden's luckily from TSC a few week's ago in bantam bin so hopefully can at least get those started again.Might make some pretty chicks.If you have them I would try a run let them mix see what color's ya get.

Either way you cross, the males are going to look about the same, they will be the silver laced pattern with a yellow/citron sheen over the silver.

But with a GL roo on SL hens, that will give sexlinks, the females will be pure Golden sebrights the males will be as described above.

With a SL roo on GL hens, they won't be sexlinks but the feamales will be all pure Silver Sebrights and the males should be the same as above.

I have a chance to buy some sebright chicks that come from a silver hen an a golden hen , that are bred back to a silver roo ...
so was wondering if the cross between colors would still bring true colors

Sebrights are so hard to find.. not many people breed them an they are my favorite bantams/chickens

So if they are from Silver and Golden hens with pure Silver roos, Then any hens you get will be PURE SILVER, the roos from the silver hens will be pure silver as well and the roos from the golden hens will be silver with the yellow sheen.

If you breed the roos with the yellow sheen to the silver hens, you will get half golden offsring and the other half would be pure silver hens and the roos with the yellow sheen

Hey, may I join the thread if I have Polish?
Are the genes the same with Polish as with Sebrights?
I have a Golden Laced hen, and 2 roos...One is Buff Laced and the other is Silver Laced. The Silver Laced is not bright white on the head and such...he has a shiny gold look not sure if it is dirt [but I doubt it]

Can anyone help me with what I will get with the different pairing of these birds?

Is there a way to tell the sex of the chicks using the colors and sexes that I have now?

I have hatched three chicks from the GL and BL cross, the chicks are all Buff it appears.

Also all things considered do you all know if this is going to hurt one color or the other by crossing them. They are all I have right now, I want some chicks, but not if I'm going to ruin the breed.

If you say that all the hens are GL ...

Then when breeding to the Silver laced roo, if he is pure silver, the you will get the same results as I said for the sebrights, all pure silver hens and silver roos with a yellow seen.

With the Buff laced roo, but laced is Golden laced diluted by Dominant white so when breeding him to the GL hens, you will get about half BL and half GL


As far as messing up the breed/colors there's really not much to worry about, just what for those silver roos with the yellow and don't mistake him for a pure silver and use him for breeding silvers, if you bred him to silver hens, you would get half GL and the other half would be SL females and yellow sheened males.

So let me ask this, when speaking of PURE, what does that mean?
If we breed the GL hen to SL roos we get PURE silver hens?

I don't understand about PURE.

and a GL roo over a SL hen makes PURE GL females?
Does that mean the color she is, not her genetic makeup?

My roo shows the yellow you spoke of.....putting him over a GL hen will produce what?

My silver roo must have Sg genes???? He is silver with gold gene also?
