The early heat (over 100* in the sun already) and lack of rain has really made it a challenge this year. I just moved in last summer and know I'll have to move my vegetable bed to an area that will be in shade in the heat of the afternoon next year.

These gardens sound wonderful! You should all be proud of your colourful and productive plots! I can picture Moxiechicks garden now. I bet it is a beautiful cottage garden. I am growing tomatoes, cherry and standard, broad beans climbing beans, chard, spinach, beetroots, leeks, lettuce and onions. I am growing only a few flowers, in tubs, as I don't seem to find the time to bed anything in the garden. Other than some colourful shrubs and a lawn, that's it for me. I always feel very guilty when i drive along the lane and see some delightful, little cottages with their front gardens a riot of colour. Some of the inhabitants are quite elderly as well! Shame on me!
