I'm unsure. Lol I just know that I have 3 hens, and 2 roosters all of the same bantam breed. To me, I agree that they look like OEGB but when you look up "Dutch Bantam" they look almost identical!
But rest assured that you know your bantam is a hen for a fact.
I'm in love - this is the first Bantam for my flock. I still can't get over how she basically adopted me! The farmer had not even shown me any, and here come this one out from nowhere to me while I'm waiting by a fence.
She's had to have no restraint at my coop either. She could fly off if she wanted to. love the gold feathers too.
For those who may be wondering, that nest box is a curbside treasure - a small cat / dog carrier with the heating pad replaced with straw and sawdust, and the velcro flaps positioned to allow strut-thru egg-laying! (All of the roof and clear side flaps are removable and repositionable.)
Sigh. I fumbled and stopped treating way too soon. And fearing hurting Harlie, had not got the pus out. So of course now she's back to square 1. She's way too thin. Her crop was full of water at roost time before I started re-treating.
The present effort is more intensive by far going on 48 hours at this point.
The pus or at least some of it came out amidst furious objection. Put the same 2 meds in 3x each day. Intense custom feeding by herself assures she gets a cropfull. In the coop with the others kept at bay with a stick and on a rag in with me before and following eye treatment. Fingers crossed! Added some bile-tainted liver and the gallbladder it was from to her selection from earlier (shelled sunflower seeds. fresh corn. oats. american cheese. turkey and bologna bits. pellets. vitamins.). She ate well.
Today I removed two huge globs of pus each about the size of 1/2 a fresh large corn kernel. Whew!
My other two newbies are doing fine. I even discovered a cache of 5 of Phoenix's eggs where Harlie was hiding from the grownups this morning. Their surprise treat today was leftovers from crab picking!
