while making a TSC trip yesterday, they were having a pathetic chicken swap in the parking lot.

This younger man was selling a variety of chickens around 6 months old. Some how 5 dark brahams and one speckled sussex hen ended up in my car

Is this what you call chicken math?

hahaha I guess! I guess I'm lucky I have to travel to buy chickens here, if they were just sitting in feed stores I'd be over run by now!!

I wish I had one of everything!

Planning on my next pair, I always limit myself to two at a time every two years!

I totally hear you. I am constantly making "pity purchases' like chicks that are being sold outdoors in late fall/early spring when weather is bad & there is no wind block, or a visibly injured hen or chick that will take weeks of rehab and medicine and maybe even an expensive vet visit & I might not end up keeping it anyway! We are just suckers for those red wattles, pointy beaks and big eyes, or the fluffy cuteness of unwanted peeps. Thank goodness my husband isn't very pro-chicken or I would be overrun myself! I go to nearly all our buy-sell-trades (there are at least 8/year) and so far this year I brought home nothing, until August, when after one BST I came home with SIX new chickens, including yet another bantam rooster!

Are we Chickaholics?

Only 20?!?
I brought home over the chick season over 50! Unfortunately, I lost all but about 6[plus most of my original flock] of them to foxes and other evil things this past spring..ugh!!!!

Any place or ad you see for chickens might mess up your chicken math..lol.
