Corrections Officer in a private run under manned all male prison. I didn't like my odds...one female with one little radio and 110 WAY bigger than me criminals. I was stupid and 19 and took what paid best, but it was not enough to keep me there!! I stuck it out 6 months until I found something else though. Every day sucked.

Working at a very fancy restaurant. The co-workers were worse than the customers. It was all just so darn *fake* the way the people acted.Next worse was industrial laundry place that cleaned uniforms. That was just depressing to work at from 5am to 2pm each day.

Worked for Lowes for 4 years. This company thinks their s*** doesn't stink. Some of my customers I loved and still talk to them to this day, others were a pain...Management was the biggest problem in the stores.... (we had one manager that would growl and raise his fists as if he wanted to hit us, looked like a guy that could blow his cork any minute and go on a shooting spree).
They crossed the line with me when they accused me of something I'd never ever do. I was one of the top sales persons for my dept in the region, and they accused me of not ringing up items to make sales, #1, I'd never do that. #2, their management system would lock up, and drop items or whole sales. On the particular case they showed me on camera, that day, the system locked up and kept my contractor in line waiting for over 1/2 hr, as soon as it freed up, it lost the sale, I had to do it all over again, and it locked up again, 1/2 hr later, it came back on line, it kept the sale, but dropped the last item I rang up, I didn't see it, I was more concerned about getting the guy out the door so he could go to work. They said I was padding the sale so I could get more sales..they thought so highly of themselves, to think I would do that for sales for their store...(No, I got them from working my butt off and taking care of my customers). So after a 4 hr interrogation, they decided I was telling the truth, but put me on final notice anyway... I was glad they did this, because it pushed me to apply for jobs I had some experience in, but not at a higher level. I ended up getting one of those jobs, now I have a job I love as a Facility manager. So even though they insulted my integrity, they helped me get a better job w/more $$

Nursing assistant at a nursing home. I could never get the smell of OPP (other people's pee) off of me. So many of the people were lonely/sad/forgotten. And we were always understaffed. I learned a lot about death.

This has to be one of the hardest jobs- I still feel NAs should be treated better.
