One thing I found out by experimentation, if your hens are billing out the feed onto the ground, simply raise the height of the feeder, if it is about as high as the base if their neck they can't really bill feed out of there cuz they have to stretch a bit to get the food, you can experiment with the height of the feeder till you get it right, just don't put it too high (Head high for instance) cuz they can't peck food out.
As stated above, pelletized food is usually more economical and they do seem to prefer those over the krumbles.
